Middleton Grange, N4

“Our project is less than a year old. In May we launched with a party which included food using early produce and games for the kids (also attended by our local councillor). On the 12 June management was handed over to ‘Myddleton Growers’ a committee of plot holders on the estate. By July the plots looked fantastic with a mixture of vegetables and flowers. The first committee meeting agreed that we’d learnt a lot: growth had been great, we’d got to know each other and shared ideas; the spacewas respected by local kids who had previously hung out there. However some had planted too much; we had a problem with foxes and our worms did not survive! The compost area could also be maintained better. Further tool storage and a cold frame would also be useful. Our challenge is to keep the momentum going, keep everyone on board and involve as much of the estate as possible.”
